The wellbeing of our young people is paramount to us. We strive to help and guide them to be mentally healthy , which allows them to be the best version of themselves. We are developing a Wellbeing Garden where the young people help to grow fruit and vegetables. This gives our young people the opportunity to engage in gardening and be out in the fresh air. Food and Drink
At Dorset Pathways we have facilities to store food and drink until lunch time. What we do ask is that the young people have a healthy lunch and that they do not bring in any energy drinks. Energy drinks have a negative impact on engagement and makes it so hard for the young person to learn and manage their emotions.
Safe Spaces
At Dorset Pathways we offer Safe Spaces whilst in sessions. This allows the young person to remove themselves from a situation they are uncomfortable with and gives them time and space to regulate and manage their emotions.
Careers & Advice
At Dorset Pathways we focus a lot of time and effort in discussing career paths and aspirations. We take the time to allow the young people to explore different paths and discover what offers them the best fit.
Referral Process
Different local authorities have different procedures in referring a young person to Dorset Pathways. For more information please get in contact with us.
Sustainability & Environmental Impact
At Dorset Pathways we strive to work towards a more sustainable future for everyone. We are mindful of the environment when we look at our systems and procedures and will try to work electronically where possible. We are developing a Wellbeing Garden where we grow our own fruit and vegetables. We also have left space for wildflowers. Wildflowers are great for wildlife and provide food for pollinators and insects
Supported Internship
At Dorset Pathways we strive to take our young people from school straight through to employment. We offer the final stage of education in a Supported Internship for young people with SEND needs. We support them through a work placement, job coach and provide training to help them develop their skills and knowledge within their chosen vocation. To find out more click here
At Dorset Pathways we keep any rules and agreements we have to a minimum. The rules we have in places are:
Always use the Safe Space if needed.
Do not disrupt other young people’s learning.
Follow all instructions, especially in the workshop.
Mutual respect.
We allow our young people to have space and will never force anyone to work if they feel unable to participate.
The young people’s wellbeing is at the heart of what we do.
